"into the aether'

I've had my chances at love;

had my 

once in a lifetime a few times and every time

they've ended up 

with more than a few regrets;

When in it 

I never think it possible 

that I'm being such a damn ignorant idiot;

thinking that somehow 

I know what I know

and it's the truth 

just to realize later 

I had more than my fair share 

of the blame

in being a damn fool;

Once it's gone 

on whatever day it happens 

and I mean truly done, 

it doesn't matter what apology I have 

nor they 

because as the moments permeate 

throughout all of space

whatever that was us

has already been absorbed 

between the particles of energy and matter

dissipating into the past of rarefied aether

making disappear whatever it was

that ever made us come together

in the first place.
